Rideshare (Uber & Lyft) Accident Doctor in Manhattan
Same or next-day appointments available. Call (212) 840-0135.
Rideshare trips are part of daily life in Manhattan, and stop-and-go traffic on the avenues means plenty of rear-end jolts. If your neck, back or a nerve has hurt since an Uber or Lyft crash, our Midtown spine and pain office on East 55th Street can evaluate it.
Hurt in an Uber or Lyft? You’re generally covered by New York no-fault
New York’s no-fault system generally pays medical bills after a crash whether you were the rideshare passenger, the rideshare driver, or a pedestrian or cyclist hit by a rideshare car, regardless of who caused it. Which policy pays first depends on the situation, such as your own auto policy, the rideshare driver’s policy or the rideshare company’s coverage, and we sort that out with the insurer when you call.

Questions
What is a no-fault doctor?
A doctor who treats people hurt in car crashes, including Uber and Lyft crashes, and bills the auto insurer’s no-fault coverage for that care. In New York, no-fault generally pays medical bills regardless of who caused the crash. We bill the no-fault insurer directly. If any amount goes unpaid, we pursue it ourselves through arbitration or litigation, and this doesn’t affect you.
What kind of doctor should I see after a rideshare accident?
Start with a physician experienced with accident injuries who treats spine, joint and nerve pain; therapy, if you need it, is with the same practice in Brooklyn or Staten Island. The first visit documents your injuries, which matters for the no-fault claim.
How long can I wait to see a doctor?
It’s better not to wait. Injuries often show up a day or more later, and New York’s no-fault rules generally require written notice within 30 days of the accident (11 NYCRR 65-1.1).
Can symptoms show up days after the crash?
Yes. According to Mayo Clinic, whiplash symptoms most often start within days of the injury and can include neck pain and stiffness, headaches at the base of the skull, tingling or numbness in the arms, and dizziness. Back pain and stiffness can also appear later.
Can I be seen without health insurance?
Yes. After a rideshare crash, your health insurance isn’t used. No-fault is billed to the auto insurer of the car you were in, so you don’t need health insurance for this care. If you were driving for Uber or Lyft, or were on foot or on a bike, the office will check which policy applies.
My current doctor isn’t helping. Can I switch?
You can choose or transfer to us; we’ll help with the paperwork. You may treat with any provider you like, as long as the provider accepts no-fault. Bring your claim number and any records.
What should I bring to my first visit?
Photo ID, the police report number if there is one, the auto insurance company and claim number, any ER paperwork or imaging, and a list of your medications. A screenshot of the trip receipt from the Uber or Lyft app is helpful too.
